1.         HARRY KANE

CLUB: TOTTENHAM                                COUNTRY: ENGLAND

AGE: 25                                                         2017 Rank: 4

The 25 year-old Tottenham striker is without doubt the most prolific goal scorer in modern football. Kane has not quite been at his free-scoring best since the World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot. He scored a total of 41 goals in 45 starts for Tottenham and he has continued with 13 goals in 20 starts this season. He’s been red hot since he made his breakthrough in the 2014-15 season. Surely he is worthy of being ranked among the top ten strikers in the world.

2.         SERGIO AGUERO

CLUB: MANCHESTER CITY                              COUNTRY: ARGENTINA

AGE: 30                                                                     2017 RANK: 3

He dyed his hair blond in November, but the 30-year-old striker has always caught the eye since his early days. He became the Man City’s all time goal-scorer when he scored his 200th goal for Manchester city in august.  Despite the uncertainties regarding his future when Guardiola took over, Aguero has forged ahead as one of the best in the world. With the way he plays nobody would dare suggest he’s slowing down. He moved one place from last year’s ranking of top ten strikers in the world.

3.         EDISON CAVANI

CLUB: PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN                       COUNTRY: URUGUAY

AGE: 31                                                                     2017 RANK: 10

At 31, Cavani has nothing to prove in the world of football, his past records will do the talking. Although he’s largely played a secondary role since moving to the French capital, he showed his worth at the World Cup.  He was phenomenon for Uruguay, that if he wasn’t injured, he might have upset France to reach the semi-finals. He has amassed more than 300 career goals, very few strikers could boast of that feat in modern football.

Edison Cavani is a legend whose am is written in the heart of Napoli fans due to his goal scoring recording with the club.  He deserves appreciation and applause for his skills and sportsmanship.

4.         LUIS SUAREZ

CLUB: BARCELONA                                           COUNTRY: URUGUAY

AGE: 31                                                                     2017 RANK: 2

The Uruguay international is not just known for scoring goals, he’s a bit of character off and on the field.  There are those who think that, for sheer street smartness and ability, Suarez should top the list. Suarez has become an integral part of Barcelona’s team since his switch from Liverpool. He’s been the go to man since Messi injured his arm and a vital contributor to the club’s title defence. His hat trick against real Madrid in October was enough to boost the clubs morale.

5.         ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI

CLUB: BAYERN MUNICH                                   COUNTRY: POLAND

AGE: 30                                                                     2017 RANK: 1

The Polish international was ranked number one in 2017, but he still deserves praise. The goals have come at regular intervals, although, he was not at his best for Poland at the World Cup. The 30 year-old sought and failed to secure a move to Real Madrid over the past year and he remains valuable to Bayern in this hard times.

6.         ROMELU LUKAKU

CLUB: MANCHESTER UNITED                                    COUNTRY: BELGIUM

AGE: 25                                                                     2017 RANK: 7

Lukaku is like the two sides of a coin to punters. On one side, he is a marvel, a 25 year-old who is close in on 200 career goals. On the other side, he doesn’t score enough when it matters most or have much feel for the game. No matter the side, the Belgian is a top notch goal scorer. He scored four goals for his country at the World Cup but he’s struggle to find the spark this season. He’s approaching the peak of his playing career and he’s surpassed the premier league record of his mentor, Didier Drogba.

7.         DIEGO COSTA

CLUB: ATLETICO MADRID                               COUNTRY: SPAIN

AGE: 30                                                                     2017 RANK: N/R

He is back in the top ten after a year away; Costa he has struggled to rediscover his scoring form during since his return. He is known for his controversies on the pitch but he’s without doubt a prolific goal-scorer. His long absence from football during his transfer saga is one of the factors for his dip in form.  Costa scored the goal that sent Aletico into the Europa League Final as Diego Simeone branded him “extraordinary”.  Diego Costa put in one of the best center-forward performances of the 2018 World Cup in Spain’s 3-3 draw with Portugal.

9.         GONZALO HIGUAIN

CLUB: AC MILAN                                                             COUNTRY: ARGENTINA

AGE: 30                                                                     2017 RANK: N/R

Higuain is one of the most talked about center-forward in modern football, either as a flop or as a star. One fact is that the 30 year-old Argentina international is no small name in the the world of football. He’s plied his trade at Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus and he did absolutely well for these European clubs. Higuain was essentially loaned out to AC Milan by Juventus to make room for Cristiano Ronaldo. But the striker made a decent start with the Rossoneri and, despite a poor outing in November against his parent club, he still remains a top-class finisher.

10.       MAURO ICARDI

CLUB: INTER MILAN                                          COUNTRY: ARGENTINA

AGE: 25                                                                     2017 RANK: N/R

Inter Milan a making a strong return to the center stage of European football after a long time out. This is due to the calibre of players in their rank, and the influence of their prolific striker and captain. Mauro Icardi has over 100 Serie A goals to his names while he has not had much success with Argentina. His omission from Argentina’s World Cup squad was a shock to the football World, given his form prior to the competition. Icardi’s UEFA Champions League exploits are convincing doubters and is something to write home.   A searing volley winner at home against Tottenham at home and late equaliser against Barcelona are prime examples of his talents. Icardi’s development has not been ignored by all football lovers, hence his inclusion Ong the top ten strikers on 2018.
